How do you ensure my child is engaged?To ensure your child is engaged, the online tutoring lessons are live, interactive and face-to-face. The innovative virtual classroom mirrors real-life interaction with seamless communication between myself and your child as they complete meaningful activities tailored to their specific learning goals. I prioritise building a connection with your child to make them feel safe and supported. This helps me to incorporate their interests and design challenging learning games personalised to their needs. As a qualified teacher, I have deep knowledge of year level specific content and am skilled in adapting my teaching strategies for the needs of each learner. Whether your child is in Year 1 or Year 7, my approach ensures that every lesson is dynamic, engaging, and focused on your child’s growth.

How does online tutoring work?At the beginning of your enrolment (or the school term), I send the URL link for your virtual lessons. I suggest that you click this link a few minutes prior to your lesson to complete the technical checks. Gemma will arrive at your child's scheduled starting time to begin the lesson. These lessons are highly personalised with virtual whiteboard collaboration, meaningful learning discussions, educational games, digital worksheets and more.

How do I sign up?To sign up, click the Book Now button to complete the client intake form. I will propose a lesson time and send you the initial invoice. Once I have received your payment, your lesson time will be secured for the duration of the school term (excluding trial lesson).

What technology do I need?I like to keep your technology requirements simple. All you need are: Stable internet connection Earphones/headphones A device (tablet or computer) with a camera, microphone and keyboard The latest version of either the Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browsers (or Safari for iOS devices). What year levels and subjects do you offer?I currently offer tutoring services for Years 1-7 in English and Mathematics. I also offer reading and spelling interventions, NAPLAN preparation and study skills workshops. I am committed to delivering exceptional tutoring services with extensive resources that cater to the needs of my students. I may expand to additional year levels in the future, though rest assured that I will only expand when I am confident in maintaining the same high standards of quality.

Who will tutor my child? What are their qualifications and experience?GM Tutoring is currently run by Gemma Carter, a registered teacher and NAPLAN marker with experience in Australian classrooms (see About). As a qualified teacher, Gemma has deep knowledge of year level specific content and how to adapt teaching strategies for the needs of each learner. What steps can I take if I'm unhappy with GM Tutoring after the first lesson or two?I understand online tutoring may not be for everyone, which is why I offer trial lessons, as well as a simple process to withdraw your enrolment if you are not satisfied after your first two lessons. Simply notify me at hello@gmtutoring.com.au within 48 hours after your second lesson to let me know that you would like to withdraw your enrolment. I will confirm your termination and provide you with a refund for any outstanding credit (excluding initial two lessons at PAYG rate). Please see terms and conditions for more details.

How does payment work?Trial Lesson: Invoices for trial lessons are sent after I have received your client intake form and determined that we are a good fit. This invoice is due on the Friday prior to your first lesson. 10 Lesson Bundle: Invoices for 10 Week Bundle payment plans are sent after I have received your client intake form and determined that we are a good fit. This invoice is due on the Friday prior to your first lesson. Fortnightly Payments: Invoices for Pay As You Go (PAYG) payment plans are sent via a fortnightly billing cycle (every second Monday). Payments are due within 5 days of receipt of the invoice. These invoices will cover a 14-day period of lessons, commencing the week after the payment is due. For example, a parent/caregiver receives an invoice on Monday of Week 2 which is due on Friday of Week 2. The invoice covers all lessons taking place in Weeks 3 and 4.

What if there are technical issues during a lesson?If significant time (5 minutes or more) is lost during a lesson due to GM Tutoring technical issues, compensation can be provided through a proportional refund or credit. However, no compensation will be provided for loss of your internet connection or for technical problems with your device. If you are having technical issues during a private lesson, please call Gemma on 0420 611 772 and I will do my best to help you solve the problem.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson?Private Tutoring To accommodate busy schedules, each student is entitled to a maximum of two make-up lessons per school term. If you need to cancel a lesson, send an email to hello@gmtutoring.com.au with at least 48 hours’ notice. Eligible cancellations will be rescheduled for a make-up lesson outside your regular weekly timeslot. GM Tutoring does not offer refunds or credits to be rolled over to your regular time slot. Please be advised that late cancellations and no-shows will not be compensated. Please see Terms and Conditions for more details.

Can I miss lessons within the school term?I am dedicated to fostering sustained learning and skill development of my students. It is for this reason that you are expected to commit to weekly lessons for the duration of each school term. If you need to reschedule a lesson or two, simply send me an email at hello@gmtutoring.com.au at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled lesson. Each student is entitled to two make-up lessons per school term. My commitment lies in providing an educational journey that empowers my students for the long run.
