ABOUT
Hello Tutoring Families!
Gemma Carter
GM Tutoring Director, B. Ed (with Distinction)
I started GM Tutoring because I am passionate about supporting students to grow, both academically and emotionally. I am a qualified teacher, currently working as a relief teacher in Queensland schools. I am also a NAPLAN Marker and have 8 years of tutoring experience.
External to teaching, I have worked many years as a gymnastics and kids ninja coach and have volunteered as a teacher/childcare worker in the Philippines and Uganda. These experiences have amplified my skills in adapting to various ages, personalities and abilities, whether that be building foundational knowledge or extending to more complex and abstract concepts.
At the heart of my teaching approach is my ability to connect with children, recognise their strengths and celebrate their milestones as I guide them through challenging concepts with personalised strategies. I am a strong advocate for fostering a growth mindset where students believe their intelligence and talents are not fixed and can be developed over time.
There are vast benefits of private tutoring for improving student confidence, classroom engagement and academic ability - especially with the expertise of a qualified teacher. Therefore, my goal is to continue supporting students to develop knowledge, learning strategies and a growth mindset that will last a lifetime.
